Heavy Heart

The news from Moncton has echoed through many homes yesterday and again today.  First the rumours and then the actual reports from the RCMP stating that five officers have been shot with three losing their lives in the line of duty.  It is such a heartbreaking time listening and thinking about what these families are going through.  My prayers don't seem like enough and yet I pray for the families affected, for those still out searching....for it to be over soon.

Many police officers will wear the blue cross today.  The looped blue over black mourning ribbon pinned at the center with a maple leaf badge is the national symbol for mourning peace officers who have died in the line of duty.  Ron left for work today wearing it.  I could not stop the tears as I watched him go thinking about those who went to work yesterday in Moncton expecting it to be just another routine day.
Today starts another day.  We don't know what it will bring.  Our hearts are heavy for the loss of three good officers who went to work expecting to do their job and come home.  The families of  these precious officers lives have been changed forever.  We pray for these families and their partners who have to deal with this pain and loss.  We also pray for the officers that have been wounded that they will recover physically and emotionally.
And Lord....please help it to be over soon!
