Montana and Recovery Days

On Thursday, our little travel group headed to the states.  It was the first time that Sarah, Emma and Jacob had been out of the country.  With passports and a permission letter from their mom, we successfully crossed the border.
We went to Glacier National Park to explore, hike and enjoy the scenery.
The first day, we walked to Baring Falls.  When we started out it was kind of cool and windy but we soon warmed up.
The falls were pretty and the water was extremely cold.
Along the way there were lots of rocks to climb and pictures to take.

This Nanny was constantly telling our young travellers to slow down, don't climb so high, watch your step and be careful.  Our next hike for the day was to Avalanche Lake.  It took a little more time and a lot more effort.

We had a few tumbles along the way....some bloody knees and a few scratches but we made it to the lake.

We enjoyed a little break and the kids were brave to wander into the icy water.  It was a wonderful warm day.

After a long, hot walk we got into the truck and drove into Kalispel.  Our first stop was supper at Chick Fil A and then Krispy Kreme donuts.

We checked into the hotel and headed to the pool for an evening swim.  Everyone was tired from the day and so we crawled into bed early.
Poor Jacob was the center of a sister sandwich.  The next morning the kids were awake early and headed to the pool with Grandpa.  We enjoyed a good breakfast at the hotel.

On Friday, we started back through the park with a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts to enjoy along the way.  Sarah picked a morning hike.  She led the way through the Rocky Point Nature Trail.

The hike was nice but it was quite warm.  We stopped along the way for snacks and water breaks.  We then drove up to Logan's Pass where Sarah and I decided to sit the next adventure out.  Grandpa, Emma and Jacob hiked up to discover the Hidden Lake.  They found snow!

According to the kids, the name needs to be changed now since the lake has now been found.

The drive along the "Going to the Sun" road is a beautiful drive with wonderful scenic stops along the way.

We got home on Friday night after a pizza supper in Waterton.  On Saturday, we had a quieter day.  On Sunday, Sarah woke up not feeling well.  I took her to the hospital to see if she had strep throat (since I was recovering from that).
Grandpa and the other two walked to church and then went for a hike to a summit.

It was quite a hike and the kids had to be coaxed along but they made it to the top.

You may think that everything is perfect in our little life of adventures and MOST OF THE TIME it is.  We all have our times and our attitudes that flare up.

Fortunately, these episodes don't last too long or come too often but they do make for interesting pictures to show in a few years at their weddings.
