The Tourists Have Arrived!

Last Monday we decided we would load the canoe and find a mountain lake to paddle around.  Ron's first plan was to head to Moraine Lake.  It is close to Lake Louise but we thought perhaps not quite so popular.  When we arrived we had to drive around the parking lot to find a place to park.  The next problem was that we would have to walk quite a ways carrying the canoe to get to the water.  We decided instead to have our lunch there and look for a quieter lake.

One thing about tourists is that they sure like to take a lot of selfies.  It would be fun to take pictures of people posing for themselves.  One little girl jumped into a canoe along the shore, crossed her lakes just like and gave the biggest smile to her selfie stick.  It made for great lunch time entertainment.
We took a little walk up the path and enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

Next stop....Lake Louise.  It's always been a secret wish of mine to canoe in this beautiful lake.
First job...find a parking spot.  Doesn't anybody ever work on Mondays anymore?

So there were lots of people at Lake Louise and quite a few canoers and so we decided to keep hunting for that perfect spot.  We wanted a quieter lake where we wouldn't have to carry the canoe a long way through people.
Along our way we found someone else who was trying to get away from the crowd.  And then....we found it!  Two Jack Lake gave us everything that we had been hoping for on our first canoe of the year.
A back in spot to the lake...easy lift off and go!
And just like that we were in our canoe and heading into the wind to ensure an easy paddle back.

It's pretty nice paddling in the beautiful turquoise water with mountains surrounding you.   We stopped for a little walk around and to take in the sights.
After a little paddle we headed back to the truck, loaded up and drove into Banff for supper.  We ate at the Spaghetti Factory.  The windows were open so that we could enjoy the warm breeze and watch people.
A fun way to top off the day.
But the tourists are definitely back which means when we want to hike or canoe we will have to get up early and beat them to the lakes and trails.  We are going to let them have it for the next week and a half as we hop on the motorcycle tomorrow and head west....which will give me more material for my blog.

*Update:  Another robin found my "For Rent" sign and has been busy doing some nest renovations.  I guess a new family of robins will be guarding the house while we are away.
