When in Rome

It just so happens that the day that Stephen and Kylie visit Rome will be in the history books. Pope Francis died at age 88 on Easter Monday. Stephen and Kylie arrived at the Vatican in the afternoon.  There were a lot of people.

In the morning they had toured the colosseum.  This structure, though quite amazing to realize how long it has stood, had a dark past.

“it is believed that as many as 400,000, between gladiators, slaves, convicts, prisoners, and myriad other entertainers, perished in the Colosseum over the 350 or so years during which it was used for human bloodsports and spectacles.”24 Facts About The Colosseum

Today the Amphitheatre is a monument to works of art and human ingenuity that have survived the centuries. It still appears as a welcoming and dynamic structure, offering a broad panorama of its interior spaces as well as striking views of the city when you gaze out from the external arches. The Colosseum

Our day was a quiet one.  We did what most people do on Easter Monday…eat leftovers!  Ron took the dogs for a walk in the morning and Sarah took them in the evening.  I got to clean the kitty litter boxes.  That was my highlight of the day.  Sarah did a bit of school work and we watched a fair amount of hockey.

In Rome, you do what the Romans do.

Here, you do what the animals need to do!

Did you know…

GOOD EVENING!

Welcome to another week here on Planet Earth. It is Monday the 21st of April, which is, of course, Tea Day! 🫖

Ah yes, tea. Glorious, golden, soul-stirring tea — the beverage that built empires, soothed sorrows, and inspired poetry. Smoky lapsangs, zingy herbals, malty Assams, and that comforting old chum: the noble English Breakfast. Personally, I like mine strong enough to march into battle. Mrs Waffle, however, is partial to the delicate whispers of a Darjeeling — elegant, refined, and best enjoyed with a raised pinky. 👸

So, pop the kettle back on, fetch your fanciest china, prepare your biscuits, and once you’re suitably steeped and dunked, it’s time to delight in this week’s Deluxe Waffle. Marvellous! ☕Waffle Word Game

I love my tea!!!
